   BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The following pictures taken from high in the sky depict the wonders of China's contributions to reducing carbon emissions.


China's afforestation over past two decades

  Location: China

  Caption: This picture shows China's afforestation from 2000 to 2021. A NASA survey showed that China contributed a quarter of newly added afforestation from 2000 to 2017, leading the globe.


Solar and wind power park in Qinghai

  Location: Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai

  Caption: This is an extensive solar and wind power park. It can save about 7.3 million tonnes of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 22 million tonnes every year.


Rudong 0ffshore Wind Farm

  Location: Rudong Country, Nantong city, Jiangsu

  Caption: This offshore wind farm has a total of about 1,200 wind turbines standing on the surface of the Yellow Sea. In 2022, Rudong H6, H8 and H10 wind plants generated over 400 million kWh of electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes.


Xiong'an Railway Station

  Location: Xiong'an New Area, Hebei

  Caption: The station designed to appear like a drop of dew on a lotus leaf is the equivalent size of 66 soccer fields. Its oval roof is a photovoltaic power generation system, generating an annual average of 5.8 million kWh of clean power.


Jinjie carbon capture project

  Location: Yulin, Shaanxi

  Caption: This is the carbon capture pilot project in a coal power plant. It can extract carbon dioxide from exhaust gases.


Saihanba Mechanized Forest Farm

  Location: Chengde, Hebei

  Caption: The Saihanba mechanized forest farm, the world's largest artificial plantation, in north China's Hebei Province, was granted the 2021 Land for Life Award of the national category at a ceremony held during the 8th Kubuqi International Desert Forum.


Lop Nur National Wetland Park

  Location: Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang

  Caption: The picture shows a wetland amidst one of China's largest deserts. The wetland is under good protection.


Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve

  Location: Shenzhen, Guangdong

  Caption: This is mangrove forest in Shenzhen. The wetland restoration project in the city has stopped the shrinking of mangrove forests. Vegetation in mangrove forests can help absorb and fix the carbon in the air.  Enditem
