BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.98 percent, at 3,428.88 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.76 percent lower at 13,123.21 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices came in at 862.5 billion yuan (about 135.5 billion U.S. dollars), down from 991.5 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in the tourism and education sectors led the gains, while those related to digital currency and banking led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.52 percent to close at 2,732.01 points. ■
