At least 19 people have been killed due to flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
The deaths were recorded in the municipalities of Francisco Morato, Franco da Rocha, Varzea Paulista, Aruja, and Embu das Artes, all in the metropolitan area of Sao Paulo and in the city of Ribeirao Preto.
Sao Paulo Governor Joao Doria surveyed damaged areas on Sunday and announced the equivalent of 2.8 million U.S. dollars in financial aid to affected cities.
Many parts of Brazil have been pounded by heavy rains, with 20 deaths recorded in northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia late last month.
