Officer killed in U.S. South Carolina park shooting
A police officer was killed and a second was injured Saturday in a shooting at a park in Columbia, the U.S. state of South Carolina, according to police.
Columbia Police Department Chief W.H. "Skip" Holbrook confirmed that the suspect also died.
The incident occurred at Southeast Park on Hazelwood Road in the city as two officers responded to a reported domestic dispute, Holbrook said at a press conference.

675 dead, 2,498 missing in Nepal mudslide: disaster authority
Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said that 675 bodies had been recovered from mudslide-hit areas as of 18:30 local time on Saturday, with 2,498 people still missing.
According to Nepal's Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a total of 753 tourists had lost contact as of 17:30 local time, including 589 foreign nationals.
Israel strikes Gaza hospital compound, targets Hamas commander
Israel carried out an airstrike on part of the Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital compound in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday, saying it targeted a Hamas commander who was planning attacks, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a medical warehouse in the hospital compound in Deir al-Balah, causing damage.
Zimbabwean police confirm 27 deaths in road accident
Zimbabwe police on Saturday confirmed the deaths of 27 people in a road accident near the town of Chivhu on Friday night.
Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said in a statement that the accident occurred about 132 km from the capital, Harare, along Masvingo Road and involved a commuter omnibus and a haulage truck.
Netanyahu issues rare condemnation of settler violence in West Bank
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday issued a rare condemnation of settler violence in the West Bank, calling attacks in the Palestinian villages of Qusra and Jalud "criminal" and urging authorities to arrest those responsible.
