As a landslide struck, village official Tian Ruliang went door to door evacuating residents in Maguan County, SW China's Yunnan. When he was swept into a torrent of mud and rocks, Tian grabbed hold of a tree with all his strength. Battered but still standing, he continued organizing the successful evacuation of 60 villagers.
