NEW DELHI, June 8 (Xinhua) -- It is essential to increase the awareness of food safety in India, a populous country in Asia, as the fourth World Food Safety Day falls on June 7.
Globally, foodborne diseases affect one in ten people annually, and the magnitude of the public health burden due to foodborne diseases was comparable to that of malaria or HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome), the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday.
