BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua)-- A 67-year-old woman has drawn applause and cheers with her elegant dance on the ice rink in Summer Palace, Beijing. Her name is Qu Wei, champion of 1985 Beijing youth figure skating open championship. She once studied figure skating at Beijing Shichahai Sports School and didn't give up the sports even after she left the school.
However, an accident occured to her at the age of 40. Her ice skate blade was stuck in the crack when she was spinning on the ice rink, resulting in fracture of left ankle.
She barely skated after that accident, and turned her enthusiasm into dancing.
The upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics reignited her passion toward skating. She started skating again after over 20 years.
