VIENTIANE, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Lao state-run Electricite du Laos (EDL) will collaborate with its partner to implement a cybersecurity operations center to strengthen the security of the country's critical power infrastructure.
The initiative marks a key milestone in EDL's digital transformation, as the state enterprise expands its digital management systems and addresses evolving cyber threats, according to an EDL statement on Wednesday.
The center will serve as a high-tech command and monitoring facility, operating around the clock to detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity risks impacting national infrastructure. With the country's growing reliance on digital systems, the center is considered essential for addressing evolving cyber threats. The initiative aims to strengthen the stability, resilience, and security of EDL's systems, which are vital to national infrastructure.
The project is expected to enhance public and investor confidence in the reliability and security of Laos' electricity system, supporting EDL's vision of modern, stable and secure digital operations. ■
