NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A man was killed in a shooting at a subway station in Midtown Manhattan, New York City on Saturday, police said.
The shooting took place around 12:20 p.m. Eastern Time (1620 GMT) on the E train platform at the station at 7th Avenue and 53rd Street, several blocks from Times Square, a police spokesperson said.
The victim, an adult man, was shot in the chest and taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials said two men got into a dispute on the platform. The altercation spilled onto a train that had pulled into the station before moving back onto the platform.
The gunman fled on foot, police said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. ■
