WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Navy has redirected over 100 commercial vessels amid an ongoing blockade of Iran, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Wednesday.
"As of Sept. 30, CENTCOM forces have redirected 125 commercial vessels to ensure strict compliance," CENTCOM said in a post on X.
According to CENTCOM, the U.S. Navy has redirected 10 commercial vessels in the past week.
On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iranian targets, prompting retaliatory strikes from Tehran. A fragile mid-June truce soon unraveled into fresh strikes, leaving the standoff unresolved. The conflict has severely disrupted commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a global lifeline for oil, petroleum and natural gas supplies, fueling energy price surges worldwide. ■
