MEXICO CITY, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Tuesday that the revocation of U.S. visas for Mexican politicians is being used for political purposes.
Speaking at her daily press conference, Sheinbaum said such actions were not new and that Mexico had historically been used as an electoral issue in the United States.
"As we've said, Mexico is not an issue in their election," she said. "The issue in their election is the problems they have within the United States, which are numerous, not Mexico."
She described Mexico's relationship with the United States as "coordination without subordination," reiterating that "in Mexico, Mexicans decide, no one else does."
"Neither the (U.S.) State Department nor the (U.S.) Department of Justice will decide what happens in Mexico," she added. ■
