NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least two students were injured Wednesday in a shooting at a high school in Houston County in the U.S. state of Georgia, and a suspect was taken into custody, according to authorities.

The wounded have been taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Houston County Sheriff's Office said in an update posted on social media, adding that one student was injured by gunfire.

The office said that law enforcement officials were responding to a reported shooting in Warner Robins High School around 2:48 p.m. Eastern Time (1848 GMT).

"There is a significant law enforcement presence due to a shooting on campus. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes to allow first responders to safely perform their duties," Houston County Sheriff Matt Moulton said.

The suspect is now in custody and the school is secure, according to officials. The investigation is ongoing.
