OTTAWA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting at a street festival in Toronto, Canada's largest city, on Saturday night, local police confirmed.
Toronto police said on social media that they received a call at 8:12 p.m. local time (0012 GMT Sunday) reporting a shooting at the Salsa on St. Clair festival near St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that the scene has been secured, and the public urged to continue avoiding the area and to follow the instructions of emergency personnel.
Currently, no additional victims have been reported and police have not released any specific information or descriptions of the shooter.
