HAVANA, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Any U.S. military attack on Cuba would cause "a bloodbath with incalculable consequences" and a devastating impact on peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel warned Monday.
"The threats of military aggression against Cuba by the world's most powerful country are well known. Such threats already constitute an international crime," Diaz-Canel wrote on X.
He said Cuba "does not represent a threat, nor does it have aggressive plans or intentions against any country," adding that this is well known by the U.S. government, especially by its defense and national security agencies.
Diaz-Canel said Cuba is already suffering a "multidimensional aggression" by the United States and has the "absolute and legitimate right" to defend itself from any military action.
His remarks came after U.S. outlet Axios reported Sunday that Cuba had acquired more than 300 military drones and assessed possible scenarios for their use against U.S. targets.
The report comes amid heightened tensions between Cuba and the United States, marked by new economic sanctions and security-related accusations. ■
