WASHINGTON, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Central Command said Friday it has intercepted an Iranian-flagged vessel.

"Guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) enforces the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports against an Iranian-flagged ship attempting to sail to a port in Iran, April 24," the Command said on social media platform X.

A U.S. naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz against Iranian vessels and ports is still underway. On Thursday, the Command said that U.S. forces have directed 31 Iran-linked vessels to turn around or return to port.

On April 12, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Navy would begin blocking ships trying to enter or leave the Strait, an action "effective immediately." He made the remarks after the first round of peace talks with Iran, held in Pakistan's Islamabad on April 11-12, failed to produce a peace deal.
