OTTAWA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in a residential fire in downtown Ottawa, local media reported Sunday.
The blaze broke out in an apartment building on Somerset Street West in the Canadian capital. Ottawa Fire Services responded to the fire on the 19th floor at about 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday (0130 GMT Sunday).
Two individuals were declared dead -- one at the scene and another shortly after being hospitalized; two others remain in the hospital -- one in critical condition and the other with minor injuries, said the report.
The fire was brought under control at 10:03 p.m. (0203 GMT Sunday), and an investigation is underway. ■
