WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- One student was shot injured inside Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, U.S. state of Maryland, about a half-hour drive from Washington, D.C., local police said Monday.
Montgomery County Department of Police said on social media platform X that officers were dispatched to the school at 2:15 p.m. local time for a reported shooting.
"The first arriving officers located the victim in a hallway inside of the school. The student victim was found with one gunshot wound and transported to an area hospital in stable condition," the police department said in a summary of events on its official website.
"The suspect, also a student, was quickly identified and arrested a short time later near the school. At this time, there is no further threat to public safety," according to the summary. ■
