LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Apple TV+ comedy "The Studio" made Emmy history Sunday while hospital drama "The Pitt" captured the top drama prize, capping a tightly fought awards night that mixed expected wins with dark-horse surprises.
"The Studio" won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series, becoming the most awarded comedy in a single season, with 13 trophies across the main telecast and last weekend's Creative Arts ceremonies.
Its co-creator, Seth Rogen, added wins for acting, writing and directing. The show had tied the all-time nominations mark for a comedy in a single year with 23.
In drama, "The Pitt" won outstanding series. Noah Wyle earned his first Emmy for lead actor, and Katherine LaNasa won supporting actress. Britt Lower of the series "Severance" took lead actress, and Tramell Tillman of the same series won supporting actor. Tillman became the first Black man to win best supporting actor in a drama series.
Limited series "Adolescence" dominated key categories, taking outstanding limited series and acting honors for Stephen Graham as lead actor, 15-year-old Owen Cooper as supporting actor, and Erin Doherty as supporting actress. It also won awards for writing and directing.
Notably, Cooper is the youngest male Emmy winner ever. Cristin Milioti won lead actress for "The Penguin" in the limited series category.
"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" won the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series.
The awards, presented by the Television Academy, honor the best in American primetime television programming between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. The event was held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. ■
