LOS ANGELES, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A Delta flight on Wednesday made an emergency landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in the U.S. state of Minnesota after 25 passengers were injured by "significant turbulence while en route," said the airline.

The Delta flight DL56, en route from U.S. Salt Lake City to the Netherlands' Amsterdam, diverted to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and landed safely around 7:45 p.m. local time (0045 GMT).

Medical personnel met the flight upon arrival to evaluate passengers and crew, said the airline in a statement.

"Twenty-five of those on board were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and care. We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved," the statement added.

"Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with passengers to support their immediate needs," airline officials noted in the statement.

The aircraft, an Airbus A330-900, reportedly had a total of 275 passengers and 13 crew members onboard.
