NEW YORK, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolted southeast of Easter Island at 18:27:51 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 36.08 degrees south latitude and 100.60 degrees west longitude.
