NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted 50 km WSW of Gizo, Solomon Islands, at 19:07:46 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 4.3 km, was initially determined to be at 8.24 degrees south latitude and 156.40 degrees east longitude. ■
