NEW YORK, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted Kuril Islands at 20:49:54 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 128.5 km, was initially determined to be at 50.71 degrees north latitude and 156.40 degrees east longitude. ■
