BRATISLAVA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Incumbent Bratislava Mayor Matus Vallo declared victory after the mayoral election on Saturday, saying he expects to lead the Slovak capital for another four-year term, according to the News Agency of the Slovak Republic on Sunday.
According to the Statistics Office, Vallo, backed by Team Bratislava, Progressive Slovakia (PS), Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and the Democrats, received 64.36 percent of the vote. Transport Minister Jozef Raz, an independent candidate, came second with 32.32 percent. Vallo is expected to have a substantial majority on the city council in the next term, as candidates representing the four-party coalition of Team Bratislava, PS, SaS and the Democrats are set to win 34 of the 45 seats, according to information released by the Bratislava City Electoral Commission on Sunday. ■
