MOSCOW, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Russia's diesel surplus is lower this year but remains sufficient to meet domestic demand and support exports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Friday.

Speaking at Russian Energy Week, Novak said Russia's diesel production capacity is about twice its domestic demand. Despite maintenance at some facilities, supplies remain sufficient for home markets and overseas shipments.

On diesel exports to the United States, he said Washington's eased sanctions on Russian diesel trade had removed export hurdles, adding that issues over freight, insurance and deliveries would be sorted out.

Earlier this week, Novak said Russia could restore monthly diesel exports to between 3 million and 3.5 million tons by the end of 2026. ■
