BERLIN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham formalized the ratification of the Kensington Treaty and agreed to enhance cooperation across technology, space, and security, after a meeting on Thursday in Berlin.

The Kensington Treaty is a bilateral treaty of friendship, which emphasizes joint efforts to deepen cooperation in foreign, security, and defense policy, promote the economy, research, and innovation, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.

Merz described the ratification as a historic milestone, noting that the agreement will particularly benefit the younger generation.

The two sides also pledged to work better together to link technology with industrial demand, counter hybrid threats, advance quantum and space cooperation, and foster regional economic growth. ■
