ISTANBUL, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye detained 28 municipal officials early Friday as part of a corruption investigation, local media reported.
The detainees included Mithat Bulent Ozmen, mayor of Eyupsultan, a historic district on Istanbul's European side, following searches at the Eyupsultan municipal headquarters as part of the probe, according to the Demiroren News Agency.
The detentions in Istanbul were reportedly linked to an ongoing investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities have not yet released specific details about the charges or the full scope of the alleged corruption. ■
