BRATISLAVA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The number of battery electric vehicles (EVs) of all categories in Slovakia has increased to 33,379 by the end of June, up 65 percent year-on-year, according to data from the Slovak Electric Vehicle Association (SEVA) on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Slovakia's public charging infrastructure has also expanded significantly. As of the end of June, 3,707 public charging points were available at 1,375 locations, with a total installed capacity of 343 megawatts (MW).
"In a year-on-year comparison, Slovakia has a substantially larger fleet of electric vehicles, a more powerful network, and nearly a thousand public charging points with an output of at least 150 kilowatts (kW)," said SEVA Director Patrik Krizansky.
Slovakia had 969 public charging points, each with a power output of at least 150 kW, as of the end of June, nearly twice the number recorded a year earlier. The charging network has also undergone a major technological upgrade. Its total installed capacity more than doubled from just under 162 MW at the end of June 2025 to more than 343 MW a year later.
As of June 30, there were approximately 8.4 passenger EVs per public charging point. SEVA said the expansion of charging infrastructure has outpaced the growth of the electric vehicle fleet.
The market for battery electric passenger cars has continued to grow. A total of 6,721 new passenger EVs were registered in Slovakia during the first six months of 2026, up 48 percent year-on-year. ■
