MOSCOW, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday that the U.S. refusal to issue a visa to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov is another example of "unfriendly" behavior toward Russia.
"These are actions that contradict the U.S. obligations as the host state for the United Nations headquarters. A country that hosts the UN headquarters should not allow such actions," Peskov said.
Earlier, Kirill Logvinov, director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told TASS that the United States had not issued Alimov a visa to attend upcoming events at the UN General Assembly. Alimov oversees UN-related affairs at the ministry.
The September denial was not the first time Alimov had been refused a U.S. visa. In May, he was also denied a visa to attend a UN Security Council event. ■
