HELSINKI, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were taken to hospital following an incident at a military training area in southwestern Sweden on Thursday, with four receiving intensive care, Swedish Television (SVT) reported.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. local time at the Kraks military training area near the town of Karlsborg in Vastra Gotaland County, southwestern Sweden. The incident was initially reported as an explosion, according to SVT.
All seven injured were employees of the Swedish Armed Forces, rather than conscripts, military spokesperson Mikael Agren told SVT. They were reportedly military personnel.
Four of the injured were being treated in intensive care, but none had life-threatening injuries, Skaraborg Hospital said. Swedish news agency TT reported that all seven were men in their 20s and 30s.
The Swedish Armed Forces said it had activated its crisis response organization following the incident, but had not disclosed further details about what happened.
Police said they were treating the incident as an occupational accident and working at the scene alongside rescue services, medical personnel and the military. ■
