MOSCOW, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chair of Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova said on Thursday that a Sashenka AI assistant will be used for the first time to handle calls and provide information around the clock during the parliamentary elections scheduled for Friday to Sunday.

"For the first time in electoral practice, when applications for voting at one's location began, the full-scale reception of calls and round-the-clock telephone information services is being provided by an intelligent information platform based on generative artificial intelligence and neural networks," Pamfilova said.

She added that the CEC has significantly improved the AI capabilities. "Above all, this means the speed of searching for and providing relevant information, and its accuracy. The expansion of the telephone flow to 1,000 simultaneous phone conversations," she said.

The Sashenka AI is based on a telephone robot launched by the CEC in autumn 2017.
