LONDON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is understood to have cancelled engagements for Monday and Tuesday following the death of his father Roy, the BBC reported Monday.
Among other plans, the prime minister had been due to speak to a conference in Brighton on Tuesday, according to the Guardian.
The BBC said Burnham had previously spoken about his father, who had Alzheimer's disease, when explaining his determination to reform adult social care in England.
Burnham had also revealed that his father did not know he had become prime minister in July because of his condition, the report said. ■
