KIEV, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian forces have struck a naval base in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday.
A terminal used to load oil, military port facilities, and warships carrying Kalibr missiles were hit at the base in the city of Novorossiysk, Zelensky said in an X post.
He said the strikes were carried out as part of retaliatory efforts following Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Ukrainian Navy, the Defense Intelligence, and the State Border Guard Service, said Zelensky.
Russian forces carried out a series of strikes against Ukrainian military and logistics facilities, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
According to an official statement, the strikes targeted military-industrial sites, seaports, vessels and logistics hubs in Kiev, Mykolaiv and Odesa. ■
