BUDAPEST, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Hungary has asked 10 members of the Russian diplomatic mission to leave the country over activities deemed "unacceptable under the Vienna Convention," Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban said on Tuesday.
The Russian ambassador to Hungary had been informed of the decision on Tuesday following an assessment by Hungarian authorities, Orban said.
"This decision protects Hungary's security and sovereignty. It does not imply breaking off diplomatic relations with Russia," she said in a statement, adding that Budapest intends to continue necessary dialogue with Moscow "based on mutual respect and adherence to the rules."
The Hungarian authorities did not immediately provide further details on the activities allegedly carried out by the Russian diplomats. ■
