WARSAW, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and four others injured in an accident on the A1 motorway in southern Poland on Tuesday, Polish broadcaster TVN24 reported.
The accident occurred before the Mykanow exit in Czestochowa County, where a truck collided with a road maintenance vehicle. One of the injured was in serious condition.
According to Marcin Caban, an officer with the Czestochowa fire service, all those killed and injured were road workers carrying out roadwork at the site.
The seriously injured person was transported by an air ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Sosnowiec, while the other three injured were taken to hospitals in Czestochowa.
Traffic disruptions were expected to last for several hours. ■
