BUDAPEST, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 1.7 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday in its second estimate.

Compared with the previous quarter, GDP increased by 0.5 percent on a seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis.

In the first half of 2026, Hungary's economy expanded by 1.7 percent compared with the same period last year, according to KSH.

The detailed figures showed significant differences among sectors. Agriculture was the main drag on growth, with its value added falling by 12.4 percent year-on-year due to a persistent and severe drought.

Industry, by contrast, expanded by 3.7 percent, including a 2.7-percent increase in manufacturing. The manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products contributed the most to manufacturing growth, while coke and refined petroleum production was the largest drag.
