SABAC, Serbia, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- A humanoid robot factory jointly built by Serbia and the Chinese company Minth Group officially commenced serial production Saturday in the western Serbian city of Sabac.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic attended the launch ceremony, toured the production facilities and exhibition area, and interacted with the humanoid robots.

Addressing the ceremony, Vucic thanked China for its support for Serbia, and noted that Minth Group had created nearly 5,000 jobs in Serbia and would further expand employment.

Vucic said Serbia was becoming "a pioneer in the serial production of humanoid robots in Europe."

He expressed the hope that the Sabac facility would assemble, and later produce, more than 5,000 robots annually, adding that the robots would have wide-ranging applications across healthcare, agriculture, industry and the defense sector.

Minth Group founder Chin Jong Hwa said the company has built 10 factories since entering Serbia in 2018.

He added that the group plans to establish a robotics industrial park in Serbia, with facilities for unmanned aerial vehicles and advanced batteries for European and global markets.

In February, Vucic announced that Serbia would collaborate with Minth Group and AgiBot, a Chinese robotics company, to build Europe's first large-scale humanoid robot production base.
