ANKARA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday the country will continue on its path toward unity, peace and stability despite recent incidents undermining regional peace.

No efforts could divert Türkiye from its course or prevent the Turkish people from maintaining national unity, Erdogan made the remarks while attending events in the eastern province of Bitlis.

He said the ultimate "winners" would be "humanity, brotherhood, peace and stability," as well as the Turkish nation and its citizens.

Erdogan's comments came after Israel struck the Abu al-Duhur military airport in northwestern Syria on Aug. 18, saying Damascus was preparing to allow Turkish forces to deploy there, a claim denied by Syria and Türkiye.
