THE HAGUE, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Dutch police confirmed that eight people were injured after an Austrian coach carrying German high school students collided with a delivery van near Wezep in the east of the Netherlands early Monday morning.
Police said they were alerted to the accident at around 4:20 a.m. local time (0220 GMT).
According to the police, the driver of the van was among those injured. Several of the victims who were taken to hospital sustained serious injuries, while others suffered minor injuries.
More than 50 people were on board the coach, most of them German schoolchildren, Dutch public broadcaster NOS reported.
Emergency services were deployed at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. ■
