WARSAW, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Around 5,000 customers in Poland's northeastern Podlaskie province remained without electricity on Sunday afternoon after strong winds damaged power infrastructure a day earlier, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) reported.

At the height of the outages on Saturday, some 145,000 customers across Podlaskie and parts of the neighboring Warmian-Masurian and Mazowieckie provinces lost power, including around 120,000 in Podlaskie.

Firefighters in Podlaskie responded to 850 incidents related to the strong winds on Saturday, most involving fallen trees and branches, PAP reported.

Thirty incidents involved damage to buildings, including roofs. Three people were injured after trees fell on two cars, according to the regional headquarters of fire service.

Repair crews are continuing work to restore the damaged network.
