ATHENS, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed after a private helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos on Monday, according to Greek national broadcaster ERT.
The helicopter crashed in the Tholos area, where the island's heliport is located, according to the Fire Service. A fire broke out at the crash site shortly after the crash.
The Fire Service's operations center received a report of the incident at 6:17 p.m. local time (1517 GMT), according to an official statement.
Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, with two firefighters and one vehicle taking part in efforts to extinguish the fire and assist in the response.
