MADRID, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two women were killed and two minors slightly injured on Saturday after a flash flood and landslide hit a village in northwestern Spain, local authorities and police said.

The incident occurred in Manzanedo de Valdueza, a village in the municipality of Ponferrada in the province of Leon. A heavy downpour triggered a landslide on a nearby hillside, sending water and mud rushing down the village's Church Street, according to police.

Six people were inside a cellar when it was inundated. Two women were killed, while two minors sustained minor injuries. No one remained missing as of Saturday night.

The emergency service of the Castilla and Leon region received the first calls at around 7:38 p.m. local time. Firefighters, police officers and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, while the regional civil protection agency deployed a rescue helicopter.

The nearby village of Bouzas was also affected by the severe weather, with another flash flood sweeping away several vehicles.
