BELGRADE, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that the country may hold parliamentary elections in October or November.
"We will have elections either in October or in November," Vucic told Xinhua while inspecting the construction site of the specialized Expo venue in Belgrade, a project undertaken by Chinese companies.
Vucic was elected president in April 2017 and re-elected in April 2022. Under Serbia's Constitution, the president serves a five-year term and may be re-elected once.
Vucic said in July that he planned to step down as president and seek a fresh mandate from voters to become prime minister. ■
