LISBON, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A pilot was killed on Saturday morning when a light aircraft crashed at the Portimao aerodrome in the southern Faro district of Portugal, according to the civil protection authorities quoted by Lusa news agency.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, was the only one aboard the plane. No other casualties were reported.
Aeronautical sources was quoted as saying that the pilot was carrying out aerial work when the crash occurred.
The Aircraft and Railway Accident Prevention and Investigation Office (GPIAAF) confirmed it had been notified, and its civil aviation team was en route to the site to gather evidence and investigate the cause of the incident. ■
