BELGRADE, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- China plays a leading role in artificial intelligence (AI), advancing global AI governance and providing affordable green and digital infrastructure to countries around the world, said Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Boris Bratina.
China's recent technological advances have been remarkable, reflecting its rapid innovation across multiple sectors, Bratina told Xinhua in a recent written interview.
He highlighted the country's achievements in cutting-edge fields including 6G communications, AI, clean energy and aerospace, adding that they have provided strong impetus for economic growth.
Noting the world has been "stunned by the rapid progress in AI," he said China has made continuous breakthroughs in machine learning and natural language processing, driving the application of AI across a wide range of industries while demonstrating strong innovation in frontier fields such as humanoid robots and autonomous vehicles.
"In this field, China plays a unique and visionary role, as seen in its Global AI Governance Initiative and the mass export of affordable green and digital infrastructure," Bratina said.
He also praised China's progress in high-tech innovation and green development, adding that China's advances in clean energy, especially solar power and electric vehicles, have set an example for sustainable development worldwide.
The minister added that major aerospace achievements, including lunar exploration missions, demonstrate the country's strong innovation capabilities. "I'm deeply impressed by China's breakthroughs with the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, the Qianfan Constellation, and lunar exploration missions," Bratina said.
Bratina said China's scientific and technological achievements are playing an increasingly important role in global governance. "Technology is becoming accessible even to poorer nations, while mass Chinese production and innovations in solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries have drastically driven down the cost of renewable energy worldwide."
On bilateral sci-tech cooperation, Bratina said, "Science and technology cooperation between Serbia and China is experiencing rapid, exponential growth," expanding from traditional infrastructure to emerging fields such as AI, robotics, electric vehicles and clean technology.
"Looking ahead, cooperation with Chinese partners is expected to support the broader adoption of the Internet of Things and other advanced technologies across domestic industries," he said.
He also expressed hope that Serbia would engage more actively in software and biotechnology development with China through joint laboratories, bringing bilateral sci-tech cooperation to a higher level. ■
