MOSCOW, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian drone attacks targeting the Moscow region injured 10 people, including three Chinese citizens, regional governor Andrei Vorobyov said on Monday.
The Chinese Embassy in Russia confirmed the details to Xinhua.
The injured Chinese nationals, along with other victims, are receiving medical treatment at local hospitals.
According to the embassy, the injured personnel are all employees of an overseas warehouse operated by a Chinese logistics company in Russia. One of the wounded has been scheduled to take a return flight to China later the same day.
Xinhua reporters learned that the three Chinese workers were on duty at the warehouse at around 6:40 a.m. (0340 GMT). Upon hearing explosions in the warehouse compound, they rushed out to an open area but were struck by drone shrapnel.
Hospital sources confirmed that the most severely injured worker has undergone surgery, the second remains hospitalized, while the third with minor injuries has been discharged and will fly back to China.
The Chinese logistics firm has notified the families of all three injured employees.
The Chinese Embassy in Russia has sent staff to the hospital to visit and comfort the injured. It has also urged Russian authorities to take all necessary measures to treat the wounded and fully safeguard the personal safety of Chinese nationals in Russia.
The strikes unfolded from Sunday night through the early hours of Monday. ■
