SOFIA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said on Tuesday that Bulgaria has no intention of joining the Coalition of the Willing that supports military aid to Ukraine, stressing that the Russia-Ukraine conflict cannot be resolved through military means.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, where he attended France's National Day military parade, Radev said he had received a personal invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron but that Bulgaria had decided not to join the coalition, according to the Bulgarian News Agency.
"We are not taking part in a coalition that insists on continued financial and military aid for Ukraine," Radev said. "We do not provide such aid because I believe the solution to this conflict does not lie in prolonging it through military means, but in a strong diplomatic effort that will finally put an end to the escalation."
Bulgaria's previous government, led by then-Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, joined the coalition in 2025 and participated in its meetings, according to local media reports.
The Coalition of the Willing, jointly led by France and Britain, comprises about 30 countries, most of them European, that have pledged support for Ukraine. ■
