CHISINAU, July 8 (Xinhua) -- China and Moldova enjoy enormous opportunities for future cooperation, and Moldova is ready to work closely with China to develop and consolidate a mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi has said.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Moldova have built ties based on mutual respect while advancing pragmatic cooperation in various fields, benefiting the two peoples, Popsoi said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
Recalling his visit to China in May this year, Popsoi said he was greatly impressed by China's development and the enormous potential for bilateral relations. Popsoi said that Moldova hopes to boost economic exchanges with China and explore opportunities in the field of high-value agriculture, biotech manufacturing and the automotive industry.
Moldova will host its first national pavilion at the 9th China International Import Expo, scheduled to be held in Shanghai in November 2026. Popsoi described the expo as an important means for different countries to familiarize themselves with Chinese importers, distributors and consumers, noting that it certainly presents a great opportunity for Moldova.
He said that Moldova hopes to showcase its unique products and cultural charm to Chinese consumers through the expo, helping them better understand Moldova's high-quality agricultural and food products, including wine and fruit, as well as its tourism potential.
"We very much look forward to making the most of this opportunity, especially as there is such a generous and friendly offer from the Chinese side to provide this opportunity and to offer a country like Moldova an opportunity to be more present in the Chinese market," Popsoi said.
Popsoi said the China-aided solar power plant in Moldova is of great significance to consolidating Moldova's energy security, creating possibilities with modern technology in the renewable energy field, and laying a solid foundation for the development of Moldova's green energy sector.
He also expressed hope to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as culture and education. "Culture and language and people-to-people contacts are something that unite us," Popsoi said. ■
