ST. PETERSBURG, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The Russian air defense forces shot down 72 Ukrainian drones in the Leningrad region Saturday morning, said regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko.
According to preliminary information from emergency services, no casualties or damage have been reported, Drozdenko said in a statement on social media.
The large-scale drone strike was repelled over the region and the air raid alert has since been lifted, he said.
He added that Debris from downed drones was found in the area of the port of Vysotsk, an oil terminal about 150 km northwest of St. Petersburg.
On the same day, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said on social media that Ukrainian drones struck an oil terminal in the city's Kirovsky district.
No injuries were reported, he said, adding that there were no resulting industrial or technical consequences. ■
