MOSCOW, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia on Friday lifted its advisory warning citizens against traveling to the Gulf states following the signing of the U.S.-Iran interim peace agreement, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement published on its website, the ministry said the decision was made in light of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the United States and Iran on Wednesday, which aims to end the military conflict and stabilize the regional situation.

The ministry said it no longer sees a need to maintain its earlier recommendation to Russian citizens to refrain from private travel, including tourist trips, to countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, namely Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

It expressed hope that the MoU provisions would be implemented in good faith to help create conditions for a sustainable and long-term normalization of the military-political situation in the Gulf region.
