YEREVAN, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party won the June 7 parliamentary elections with 49.745 percent of the vote, according to final results announced by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on Sunday.
CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan told a press conference that the Strong Armenia Alliance secured 23.271 percent of the vote, while the Armenia Alliance received 9.923 percent, local media reported.
The results meant that the three political forces will be represented in the new parliament.
Armenia's parliamentary elections were held on June 7. A total of 18 political parties and alliances contested the elections. Fifteen of them failed to pass the required thresholds.
Voter turnout reached 58.9 percent, with 1,476,769 ballots cast, the commission said. ■
